How lovely. Your mother was killed by a drunk driver? How positively horrid… it’s always been the most unimaginable pain for me. The violent suddenness of it all. I’m so very sorry for such a tragic loss for you. Also probably why I find Biden’s false accusation of a drunk truck driver killing his wife and daughter so heinous.
No no! That story is fiction. It is sci-fi. I wrote it originally for submission to an online sci-fi magazine that required stories to be rooted in plausible science rather than fantasy. Then the magazine went on hiatus and I was very sad to lose any chance of selling the story for actual money. Then I started my Substack and published it myself.
It is quite true that many of my stories involve mother-daughter relationships. Gotta work out that splinter as much as can be possible (it ain't of course actually possible).
Fiction-writing has really saved me over the past 12 years. It took the black fury of an unfortunate legal situation and transformed it into useful energy and trust me, there ain't nothing like the triumph of getting published once the trash got kicked out.
If I could tell you how many people said to “ you really could write a book”….but I’m glad I didn’t stay there dwelling on the absurdities of my marriage to a narcissist….i decided early on I was not going to be one of those women who stay parked in Bitterville… the rewards for being happy all by one self are powerful. So much that I being of clear mind decided to shack up with the nicest “boy” ever and am glad I did!
That's why writing saved me. It took far longer than had been forecast to get the legal case concluded and the escape to the country accomplished. I got myself back with the help of the writing, it was all mine.
Ain't it great to know one has made it to the right place after all the grief in getting there?

I knew the fish part was fishy.. the story just seemed to fit your character based on what I know about your incredible mind!!
