Just an ordinary amount of garden-variety evil.

I tell you, I was charmed.  That post-inaugural live broadcast from the Oval Office with the whole family gathered and Trump gleeful of course, but in the second row Barron was playing with one of his little nieces and the sweetness of his expression was a standout or maybe even a stand-alone moment.  And I thought what a nice kid.

But before you knew it Rosie O’Donnell was tweeting speculation about Barron being autistic and the armchair diagnostic geniuses were off and running.  Takes a village fer shure but for God’s sake save me from that one.

And the end of last month Trump released the family holiday photo from Mar-a-Lago, almost everyone looking jolly and Barron in the back row looking grim.

And today was his grandma’s funeral and the grief on his face, restrained as it was by an admirable degree of dignified bearing—

Melania’s lucky to have him.  But of course it’s clear she raised him right, she and her mother and father, and no matter what else that kid has already had and will continue to have in his life, the right stuff has been put in him and I’ll wager that will serve him well.

What other people should be served I guess we better leave to the Grillmaster with the Big Tandoor in the Sky.
